Maybe I am going to work for them…

This is the cover of a student magazine called Impact. It's made and published all by students. I am very interested in participating media work. So I applied for web designer and photographer jobs. Next week they will contact me.

My first day in UK

|

I arrived in London at Heathrow Airport at 19:06, September 20th, local time. The first thing I need to do -- passing the custom -- taught me what is British custom. That is queuing. All passengers from my flight all lined up, waiting for being certified to enter the country. After I got out the airport, it's already 20:15. The left-side traffic outside in the street is very confusing. Luckily I managed to get to National Express' ticket office in one piece. Then to my disappointment, the next coach to Nottingham will go at 22:35, that means when I get to Nott It will be late midnight. 1:30 AM, I am at Broadmarsh Bus Stop, Nottingham. There were a few Asian-look people around. I caught up with two of them. They are second year here, Malaysians. We shared a cab and I arrived in Broadgate Park. But the reception told me that I couldn't move in till 24th? 2:30 AM, with the reception's help I come to Cripps hall. They find me a room. It's small but nice. At 3 in the morning I can finally put myself in bed. Wait, it's 10 in Beijing! I don't think I will have jet lag any more. I just wanted a sound sleep.

Leaving the City of Beijing

|

A few hours later, I will be on the flight to Munich, then go to London.

Just now when I was going to have dinner, an idea poped up in my mind. To many people I saw last night, it could be their last sight of me. I may not come back till 4 to 5 years later, then many of their will also leave this university even this city. It would be difficult to get together again.

Anyway, you cannot always stay at a same place. Everything is changing. Only with departing, gathering is meaningful. Let me just consider this departure as the beginning of next time's reunion.

Tomorrow would be a little hard. I will get to London at Beijing time 3:15 AM then I have to catch a bus to Nottingham.

Departure time closes

This afternoon I finally got the unconditional offer from the University of Nottingham. Another uncertainty is eliminated. Next, I must begin packaging.

My father and mother invited some of their friends to dinner today. I do not like being with them because I have not seen them for at least 8 years. How can I be easy with such strange fellows? However, there is a girl going to take college entrance examination next year, so I tried to give her some advice. Only after I got home I found that her father gave me 1000 yuan as a present. Gee, too polite.

I find a web community focused on book/movie/music appreciation and comment, named douban. Looking good. Maybe I can contribute something to it. Also I start to pay some attention to writing wikipedia entries.

Maybe I invested too much time on surfing the net. I find myself not like reading recently. There should be self-control and change of lifestyle.
